Crestani scholarships has made significant strides in 2023 by awarding 15 scholarships during the year. The organisation, led by Yvonne Crestani, has now granted a total of 67 scholarships since its founding in 2007. These scholarships have enabled recipients to advance their skills and techniques in cancer treatment, ultimately leading to tangible benefits for patients, such as reduced radiation treatments and improved care.
In June, Mrs Yvonne Crestani, the founder of Crestani Scholarships, was presented with the Medal of the Order of Australia.
2023 marked the first time that scholarships were awarded to support cancer treatment in another country, with two Australian senior radiation therapists being sponsored to provide training to radiotherapists in Mongolia.
The Foundation continued growth and impact was celebrated at the 2023 Crestani Scholarships Awards Night, where over 100 guests gathered to recognise the achievements of the recipients. At the event, the inaugural Oncology Nursing Scholarship was presented to Paris Neville, a student at Newcastle University. The Awards Night also recognised the support of donors, volunteers and members of the entertainment industry who generously give their time and talents at fundraising events throughout the year.
Through its ongoing efforts, Crestani Scholarships remains dedicated to supporting the education and research of medical professionals ultimately contributing to better outcomes for cancer patients.
